Front brake problem

sucking air from some place? thats my guess. If there are air bubbles in there still, they will cause this. Try a cable tie around the lever holding the lever over night. I have heard many times this gets air out of the lines. I have a bike that you can bleed and they feel fine, but it goes a little soft after you ride. Tried the lever trick and it worked. Had to crack the cap open gently overnight also. Make sure you dont have a leak that you may have missed.

Does it grab the rotor or not? It sounds like either there is still air in the line or something is not sealed all the way. I had a bike that had an invisible crack in the MC and it did the same thing.

sounds to me like the seals are buggered in the master clyinder..
I have in the past tested them in cars pickup trucks by pumping up the brakes and holding them...then slowly backing off on the amount of force applyed to the pedal...to find that it will at some poind start to drop(seals are shot and seal at high pressure but leak at low)
should work just as well on your bike.

This bring up a thought...I had a car that would corner so hard the end play in the axles would cause the rotor to push the piston back into the calipers in the rear brakes. On a hard turn , hit the brake it went nearly to the floor, second application it was back 100%. Could your wheel be loose a little or have some end play in the axle or spacers?

You got a bent rotor ? it might kick the brake pads way back resulting in what you describe the first time you try them... or even multiple times as long as the bikes moved
Should also pulse on your leaver if thats it
