Default New or used fatboy??

Sorry for all the posts - and thanks again to all of you for all the outstanding help.

Here's one final question... New or Used?

I'm looking at everything from a 2003 to a brand new Fatboy. I really like the Lo, but $16k is a lot of money (plus tax/license!). I've found a 2006 with 24,000 miles for $10,500, a 2006 with 14,000 miles (and lots of upgrades) for $12,500 and a 2006 with 9,000 miles for $12,200. I'm completely torn on all this and am looking to buy next week. I'm starting to consider just killing myself and buying the Lo. I have about $12k cash to play with.

Dealers are not making deals with the lo right now. Everyone I call says they're selling them as fast as they get them.

Harley Site shows 2010 Fatboy lo (Black/16299) (Color/16674) Secuirty 370 Freight 335. You said for a 2006 for 10500 to 12200. The 2011 models come out in July. So basically you are looking at a 4 to 5 year old bike. You will have no warrenty and really do not know how the previous owner did 0r did not take cae of their bike.
IMHO, I would offer a dealer a 1000 under MSRP with first 1000 mile check free and have them drop the security and freight charges and 10% off any extras bought in the 30 days of buying the bike. You could then use your cash and finance the difference. You might want to think about keeping a 1000 in your pocket to cover you tags, etc.. This way for get a new bike with warrenty and peace of mind that it is truley yours to play with without any concerns of what a used bike might bring.
Boy was this long winded, but i hope it helps with your decision.

New is always nice but you can grab a great deal right now due to the economy! Expand your search grid a little & be prepared to travel a bit in order to save cash & get a perfect bike. It's a bad year for a lot of riders who lost their jobs & cant hold on to their rides. You can find an awesome deal & at the same time, your helping a fellow rider avoid bankruptcy!
When spending that kind of cash on a private sale, thoroughly check vin numbers as well as mechanical condition. Never take anyone's word & check for liens!
