Ebay is a good way to go. However you got to keep in mind the risk.

I would only buy from ebay if it was close enough to me locally so that I could check it out in person, listen to it run and maybe if the owner is okay with it, take it for a spin around the block.

Remember they can cancel the auction, if you offer them something and they think it is fair. All it takes is for the to cancel each bid and then close the auction...so don't let them tell you otherwise.

However I have a good uncle who knows a co-worker that has bought a jeep, and a mustang off ebay and travelled from MI to TX for one of them to pick it up...lets just say I consider that lucky. After travelling you are pretty much going to buy it no matter the condition because that might be your only ticket home...LOL

Good luck with ebay...oh and do not use paypal for that large of a transaction paypalsucks.com has some scary stories and is why I do not use them.

Bought mine off ebay.I was able to pick it up locally.I would certainly learn about the many ways people get screwed on a bad ebay deal before plunging in. Never go for the buy it now bike that are way too good (a 2005 road king for 8000.00) .Notice they all ask you to email them directly and not through ebay.Just get familiar with the works is all im saying, there are some good deals on it.

Default RE: Ebay?

I have bought numerous items for my bike off Ebay and saves lots of money with no problems. Rinehart pipes for $549.00 vs $825.00 dealer price. A friend of mine just sold his Kawasaki for about $2000.00 over his highes local offer and another friend of mine bought a Police Roadking with no problems.

Here is my thoughts. If I was going to spend mucho dollars on let's say a Roadglide like mine I would not send a deposit or any money to the seller. I would call him and tell him to pick me up at the airport so I can ride it home. If you get there and don't like the bike you just fly back. There is no way I would spend $15,000 to $20,000 without checking out the bike first. There are also many scams on vehicles. I saw one of the new anniversy fatboys last week for $8,000.00. The problem is that someone probably tired to buy it.
