Congrats. Screw Mexico. This is a great opportunity, don't mess it up. I know people that passed up professional opportunities for personal reasons and the opportunity never cam back around. The rider training at a police motor school is outstanding. Don't miss out on it. Visit Mexico next year (it may be safer then also).

LOL!! Might be a divorce in my future if I do that!
Yeah, there actually is a slight chance of that. The instructor is a good friend and he told me that the attendance is high enough that he may have to split it into 2 classes. If that happens I could go to the second one, but that won't be until the fall. I'm also fairly certain that if I have to bow out, the Chief will approve it again. My fingers are crossed, haven't heard back from the travel agent yet.
Stro, do not pass this up! Mexico will always be there. If you pass this up, after all the fighting and pestering you did to get in it, your Chief just might start denying you again. This is a dream, chase it!!! Your wife will understand.
Good on Ya! Now just work it out with the wife and remember "Happy wife, happy life". I did a Citizens Police Academy years ago, the firing range safety officer was A bit concerned when I shot. Double tapped to center of mass and single tap to ocular-cranial cavity. He just wanted to know where and who taught me that. Fl CCW when I had it. It was still pretty cool for ten weeks.
Congratulations, I love to see someone realize a long term dream or goal. This is proof that the adage “Good things come to those who wait” is true. Have fun with the class. I bet it is gonna be hard and challenging which means it will be lots of fun..

Congrats Stro!!! So glad to hear you got the opportunity!
As far as the trip, if you extended from 5 to 7 days, can you just cut it back to 5? I know your wife's really looking forward to it, but I'll bet she'd be willing to postpone. This is a once in a lifetime chance!
Well, my wife knows I've wanted this class for years and is very supportive and willing to do whatever we need to do (probably doesn't hurt that she has a brand new Heritage in the garage). It looks like, for a couple or three hundred bucks, we can bump the vacation up a week if we switch resorts. We checked out the new resort choice on-line and it looks to actually be nicer! I'll know tomorrow for sure but it looks like it may all work out after all. Keeping fingers crossed!
