Just bought a 05 Roadking that had a screaming eagle 103 kit installed before delivery,Bill was $6800 WOW,It has Sceaming eagle STRK Flyw and rods,Ported Screaming Eagle heads, crane evo roller rockers,HTCC stroker pistons,SE260Cam kit,The original owner had it back to the dealer a few times for excessive vavle train noise????Went on my first ride about 50 miles and it sounds alittle noisy too me,I have asked a few people and get MIXED answer, the bike has 4000 miles on it,And last dealer invoice the mechanic States VALVE TRAIN WILL BE NOISY!!!Also since I have a dealer warranty want to make sure???Thanks for the help.Ken
Motor has some x-cellent part's, an' with all that sh*t in there....yeah yer gonna definately have some noise....that's a bigazz cam.....enjoy all the HP/TQ...an don' sweat it !...........
Money didnt seem to be a Problem for the original owner,I saw the invoice and it was $34,000,It was done to the Bike BRAND New 0 miles now it has 4000 miles and I am thinking of Using AMSOIL???
The cam lift , coupled with the valve spring pressures and the roller lifters will be noisy. Oil type will not have an effect except that syn may be noisier than conventional, I do not know this from experience , it is just what I have been told. I have a similar set up with 251 cams and it makes some noise not terrible just noisier than it had been used to. I run 20/50 conventional. The talk here has been straight 50 will quiet things down.
Obviously you have just under a year on the bike, has the noise increased or decreased?
I just picked up a 2006 Ultra with the same basic set up. Bike is FAST and pulls like a freight train, but right at 2800 rpms it sounds like the rockers are hitting the valve cover. Maybe it's not that noisy and the fairing just amplify's it?????
What dealer warranty?????? I am sure H-D will not warranty based on what one reads in the Screamin" Eagle book. I would feel confident that a call to the H-D factory supplying them with the build details would tell you the same...NO Warranty
