Glad you thought it funny. As inocent as they might have thought that statment was it reminded me of all the stupid **** I used to hear from you jap riders in the past. And when someone feels free to disrespect me or whats mine, I loose respect for them. I never initiated that sort of thing but once started I say what I want and think it funny when the person that started it in the begining is surprised by what comes.

Been riding since the 70's. Never owned a Goldwing. I'm just basing my opinions on all the time I spend helping my HD riding friends get their bikes going, or waiting on a buddy with a trailer.

It's nice your experience was different. Nice that you were one of the lucky few Harley riders back then who didn't have those problems. Had Harley managed to make a few more decent bikes than the two you had, they wouldn't have earned such a bad reputation and almost gone out of business.

You sound like a frustrated AMF rider blindly defending the pieces of crap Harley used to crank out.

Bit of insomnia had me reading through this post..remembering my old XLH and FXRS..
The frequent trips to Norm Keepers in Riverside,Ca. to keep them both running...
Yeah,i had problems with both...Sorta like having that child that you love, but knowing that at any minute they are going to do something to get grounded..
Those old Harleys were a bit of a pain..but those bikes had soul..

As for haters..
My current ride is a FXDX(Dyna Superglide Sport)...not a real popular Harley, but one of the best handling big twins they ever made..notice i said "big twins",so not to offend you Sporty,Buell or vrod riders! Those handle extremely well, but at 6'2" i need something a bit bigger!

I get alot of compliments from the metric riders..mostly about the factory suspension, many saying they never knew Harley made a sport version of a twin cam...
I do get the "I'll kick your a.. in a race, old man" from the fools with more money than brains, but i know that when it rains, they are the ones in the little cars with the grapefruit shooter exhausts and 3 level spoilers bolted to the trunks...enuff said...

As for Harley riders...
Most,i'd say 97%,are great..those who can appreciate one anothers personal tastes in what others choose to ride..
The only ones who ever said anything negative to me are the rub riders who think that if it isn't fitted with with all the HD accesories, and if your not wearing the latest official Harley gear, your not up to their "Standards"..
And all i do is grin and laugh at them...and wonder aloud about how can they ride with their heads up their ***...

"You sound like a frustrated AMF rider blindly defending the pieces of crap Harley used to crank out." Not Frustrated, happy.Rode from So. Cal to Colorado and back with 2 friends in 74.No trouble, to San Fran and back 3 times with friends no troubles, Yuma run twice and Death Valley run 3 times with huge groups all riding Harleys no troubles and 3 or 4 Toy runs with thousands of Harleys all this back in the 70's. And of course all the daily riding done, many thousands of miles. You on the other hand sound like the typical jap rider of that time talkin crap out of either jeolousy, embarrasment or just being a dumb *** to defend the **** he was on.

OK, I'll admit, I was jealous of the guys who had Yamaha FJ1100's at the time. I was ready to trade up from my Nighthawk S, but with a wife, two young, kids, and a military paycheck, it wasn't in the cards right then. I did have to defend my Honda on occasion when I'd stop to help one of my broken down Harley riding buddies, they some time commented on the lack of storage space on my bike and the little tool kit I kept under the seat.

It's unfortunate you've limited yourself to riding Harleys. There are a lot of great bikes out there. I think it's great Harley decided to become one of them.

Frankly, I don't give a ****...I just traded a Ducati for a new Dyna. I took the Dyna for a test ride and it was an instant sale. I worked for HD in 78-79 when the quality was crap..AMF..we all know what that stood for.

I picked up the Duc last year after a 20 year riding layoff. With 200 miles on the bike I took and passed the AMA Advanced Rider Course. I am 58. My last bike of 20 years ago was a 77 BMW R 100T. Before that...a few years before that I had some flavor Suzuki 750 four and when I wrenched in a bike shop I rode a 66 Triumph T-120 Bonnie that I bought for 300 bucks because it had bent forks. My first bike..age 16 was a 68 Kaw 250 Samauri...a nice bike BTW.

Now I am waiting to pick up the new HD this week. I have a loan on it. Anyway, I notice the etiquette of waving or not...I don't give a **** because I am having a good time and feeling good. I have had cancer twice and been shot at. So who cares...LOL
