Harley haters....
The owners of the Asian bikes may not feel completey welcome amounst the American style bikers. They are treated like the red headed step child at events. They are welcome as riders and good people, but their bikes are ignored when the conversation turns to motorcyles. But my experience with these riders is that they're fine with that. They like the fact that they ride something different.
First I'll say there is quite a bit of cloning as well as a lot of "form follows function" that comes into the designs. HD is guilty of it as well (look through the years at HD, Indian, Triumph, the Jap4 and you'll see they have been ripping each other off for a long time now). I think in the most recent times the japs are taking cues from Harley's design but each manufacturer has different ideas for the powerplant and suspension. Victory has some designs that stray far from anything else out there, I also give kudos for their forward thinking, but look at their less radical designs and you can see the HD and jap4 influences all over them.
I've never seen a clone stripped of it's badges unless it was recently repainted. Maybe they are tired of being treated like red headed step children by HD fanatics who don't even own a bike and don't know the difference between the bikes (you know they are out there, read any metric site and there's stories of this everywhere). Even so, that's just a really sad thing to do, are people really that desperate to join the brotherhood (or pretend to be in it). This segues into the last point: I do not believe the jap4 are interested in a brotherhood like HD, nor do the people who ride their bikes. Maybe this is the key to it all, I think that non-HD riders believe they belong to A "brotherhood" that shares a commonality of two wheels and open road, the HD riders believe they belong to THE "brotherhood" and everyone else is an outsider and not worthy of their attention (except to make rude comments and act like complete 'tards).
Neither here nor there I am growing tired of all this, I believe I've figured out what I was looking for - pirates, RUBs, and Harleytards are everywhere, some are called different names (squids, posers, metric rulers) but are easily recognizable by their actions. They are amongst us no matter where you go, just don't become one yourself and police those that are in your circle of influence. That was my original message and I have conveyed that several times over, whether or not it is heard is yet to be seen. On to more interesting and important things
Door, we are not a all brand forum here, ride what you want to, but keep in mind we are a Harley forum, you're welcome to stay all you want, but if you want to talk Vics or other brands please have the courtesy to talk about them at another forum, if you're here just to down Harley's and Harley riders/owners you're at the wrong house.
The hilarious thing is that there isn't much to actually hate about Harleys these days. Used to be that a lot of the cliches about Harleys leaking oil, breaking down, being underpowered and overpriced were true. Why do these guys feel the need to prove something, is what I want to know. I don't give a rat's asp what they ride, and I'll wave to them on the highway regardless. Honestly, who cares?
Still, reading these posts is mildly entertaining when I have nothing better to do.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
i have no interest in joining there forums, they must have an interest to be here, or there pretty twisted to waste there time coming here just to hate and put down!
HARLEY there is only one
The problem with this is that it's gone way beyond "red headed step children" where I am. It's a lot like italian biker's experience, all the time. Keep treating people badly as you say you and your group do and they are going to become haters, they may tolerate it in front of you but on their own they'll call you all a-holes (kind of a wimpy thing not to say something in front of you but still results in a disdain for HD).
I agree, I do need to spend more time on my other hobbies, the weather around here has kept me inside too long. As far as my posts being too long, I type fast so don't think I'm spending an hour putting these responses up.
