I kinda blew off the idea of haters also until I got
mine, then the folks I had always rode with were
the first to dissappear. I have since claimed NOMAD
status and still ride when and where I want and they
are starting to talk to me again nearly 2 years later.
I could hold it over their heads but it is not the thing
to do nor is it worth my time to act like that. I have
taken it as jealously on some level either bike or
my way of looking at things so "rock on" and join
in on the ride if you want but don't think I am gonna
wait extra time for ya, whe it is kickstand up time,
IT IS TIME to go !!!!!

For many, especially metric cruiser riders, it seems to be like the fable about the fox and grapes - they couldn't afford a Harley, or put their money into the metric before they knew better, so now they compensate the jealousy with "I hate Harleys." TRade them a Harley for that metric and they'll suddenly realize they don't hate them.

For sportbikers, a lot of it is a different culture - I hate their little gangsta wannabe culture as well.

I personally think that there is a lot of jalousy at Harley haters. If you can not affort them, hate them...But do'nt worry. I 've a friend driving a muscle car and his paint has several times deliberatly scratched by jalous people. I say, not jalous people but SICK people. Because there are two ways to approaching a thiing you cannot affort yourself. One: being jalous and don't ask yourself 'WHY do I not own this" and forget that owning such a thing ask efforts in earning money or makiing it yourselve. They are too stupid to even think that teh only reason WHY they don't own that thing is their own character and behaviour.
Two: Think how you can work yourselve to that level to buy or make a one yourselve and admire the people who discovered this sooner than you did.

But that means: think positive and that is not done on a big scale anymore.

Is it just me or did anyone else notice all the folks with 1 or 2 posts defending the metrics? I was just wondering were all these folks suddenly came from....
I don't personally don't care what kind of bike you ride as long as you ride it safely. (Otherwise the safety ***** will come after all of us.)

I can't believe you read this whole thread and noticed how many posts certain people had. I guess the fact that you think number of posts is significant says a lot.
Mark me down as a metric supporter. I support anyone who rides, I support their right to ride whatever they choose, and wear whatever they choose.

BTW, I only opened this thread because I just had to see what type of wisdom was being added to this old thread.

When people don't show pics of their bike and don't list which bike or what add ons they have and on top of that have a grand total of 1 post, well then yes, I begin to wonder about their agenda... I just don't believe in coincidence...

Got a new tire put on my wife's 883 the other day and the indy harley mechanic rode to work on an old 450-ish cc Honda. Made me a little nervous, but he did OK.

That's a lot of pages to go through, and I haven't read all of it, so my opinion has probably already been expressed.

I don't think there are a lot of people out there who genuinely "hate" Harleys. "Hate" is a strong word, and I'm sure it's more a matter of jealousy (metric cruiser riders) or disdain for the general Harley-stereptype (old, snobby, can't ride, etc). I think that non-Harley riders tend to *assume* that HD riders are exclusive and arrogant towards other bikes, much more than they actually are. Being a fairly new HD rider and mingling with the local HOG chapter, I haven't really come across this attitude at all. Sure, the guys/gals love their Harleys, but they're not exactly standing around bashing everything else. Quite a few of them have owned others brands and types of bikes (myself included). Now, I'm sure these HD riders exist - but like any subgroup of any organization or activity, there will always be this kind of jingoism.

I can appreciate any type of bike, and won't hesitate to stop and admire a sportbike that's caught my eye (luurrv the looks of older 80's sportbikes). It's isn't really the best type of bike for me *personally*, but a bike is a bike, and I get sick of all of this us vs them crap.
