You know, I never hear anyone hating Harley's except for on the internet.
It seems people love to bash stuff on the net, it's easy, and they never have to say it to anyone's face. I doubt they would say this crap in a bar full of bikers! LOL
you know.. its strange i started ridding a harley at 21yo. evryone i knew hated harleys.. i heard evry bad thing about them, and every joke.. now it is getting obtainable, all my buddys eather ride a harley or are doing evrything possable to get one.. hd is the best thing ever made...????
Ragtop, why do you put it up for the winter?
I did the same way until about 10 years ago and decided that's for the birds. I went out and bought winter gear and rode most of the winter. Then I got smart and bought electrics....best thing I ever did. Now I can ride all winter (Chicago area) and have pity on all the chapter members that sit at home and moan and groan about how they can't wait for summer.
With the right equipment, you can ride all year....unless you're in Alaska. I even read someone rides all year there too. Sometimes I wish I was still down south, but then I'd miss the wonderful winter riding I enjoy now.
It's a little PITA to get all ready to ride, but once you get on the road, it's a great experience.
I've got some chapter members to ride with me every Sunday for what I cal my BBB rides = Blue ***** Brunch ride. Each year a few more join me.
If it has 2 or 3 wheels, it's OK in my book. I don't hate or even dislike other brands. I had jap bikes for many years in the 70's until they stopped holding their value and I couldn't get parts.
I had ridden Japanese sport bike all my life wouldn't be caught dead on a Harley. They broke down leaked oil , to me it was an " old man bike". Memorial Day of 2002 I went to DC to visit my son and saw the thousands of Harleys there for "Rolling Thunder" after I heard the sound of 1000 Harleys rolling down the street I was a Harley lover from then on!
I say the same thing to everyone who starts this convo on the road.
ITS A BIKE, RIDE IT OR SHUT UP.
Most the ppl who bring this up are the douche bags who's bike spends more time in a garage then on the road. I beat the hell out my bike ICE is the only issue here in OK not alot of snow but the ice is a killer.
When people don't show pics of their bike and don't list which bike or what add ons they have and on top of that have a grand total of 1 post, well then yes, I begin to wonder about their agenda... I just don't believe in coincidence...
I'll bite - I ride a Triumph, about 7.5k a year. Agenda? none
Why am I here? I wanted to know more about the HD bikes and the culture and this is a good place to start. I did maka an offer on a 2004 Roadster a while back. The dealer excepted the offer then added a $300 surcharge that I did not care for - so no HD in my garage. BTW: this is the most interesting (entertaining?) of the four forums that I tend to monitor - and I mean that in a good way
