Every place I go, on or off duty, I always have my Gilligan with me (my little buddy, Mr. Springfield XD 45 Bi Tone Tactical with my TLR2). I ride with it in a shoulder holster, little big, but I have to compensate for my little co&k… lol
In none of those places are you looking for trouble. It finds you (like road hazards while riding a motorcycle) at unexpected and often inopportune times.
It is not about being macho for me. In fact, I hope to never take this out of its holser in self defense or in defense of another. But as I type at my suburban home in an upscale neighborhood, I have (as always) my Glock 33 (357 sig) at 4:00 IWB.
Earlier in my career I witnessed one of my employees killed during a robery. I hope never to be helpless again.
I say wear it on you side!
Many good men died for us to have the rights to bare arms! Display it proudly for all the Men & Women who fights for these rights such as I and proudly did for all.........
heres what i use I carry a full size 1911 :-) . Its a IWB that you can tuck in your shirt if you want to, it very comfortable. Ive done 500ish mile days wearing it with no problems at all .I wore it with a t-shirt tucked in at a air show with TONS of police and security and no one even looked twice, I would highly recommend it http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog/prod...products_id=95
+1 on the MTAC. I have two of them w/velcro clips. Excellent tuckable IWB holster. Also, checkout FIST. They have some great holsters as well. I also have a few High Noon Split Decisions. They're a very well made, comfortable IWB holster that is priced right. As you can guess, I have a huge holster drawer.
we aint allowed to carry tools for protection of life up here, unless of course we are cops, or transporting large sums of money as amoured car guards.
Thanks for all the posts. I've been thinking about a concealment vest (http://www.amazon.com/Leather-Cowhid.../dp/B0028QKRRA) so I don't have to spend $$$ on another pistol, like the pocket ones that were suggested. I'd like to save the $$$ for more chrome goodies!! Don't think I'll carry at the rally, just want something on me for the trip there and back. Does anyone have any experiences with one of these types of vests? Thanks again.
Dave
I have a vest designed to carry handguns, and I had one of my patched vests modified to carry, but I almost always use an 'inside the waist band' holster. Surprisingly comfortable with a subcompact .45 auto, even on the bike, for me anyway. Very concealable if you wear something that hangs over your belt.....I can even wear shorts and a long t shirt with such a set-up.
If you're going to consistently carry a concealed handgun, I think it's a very bad habit to keep it in a variety of places, and in something you might not be wearing (like a jacket or vest). A carry weapon won't do you much good if it's difficult to get to.

On occasion I'll have somebody ask me why I carry. If it's a sincere and intelligent question I'll answer it sincerely.
Sometimes it will be a smart *** asking if it makes me feel like a big man. For such people I'll generally tell them it's like having two co&ks....one that can kill people.
