Question Waterproofing boots?

Anybody know of a good product for waterproofing boots? I'm in FL, and rainy season is just around the corner. Both pairs of my Harley boots are not the least bit waterproof. If there is one drop of water in the road, it will get into the bottom of those boots and soak my foot immediately (and that is only a mild exaggeration.)

I also have a pair of Skechers boots that are a few years old. They were very waterproof when I got them, but the treatment is starting to wear off. They were only $50, but they don't make them anymore (of course).

So just wondering what anybody uses to take care of the wet foot problem. Thanks!

I grease mine up with mink oil, especially at the seams, then spray them with Kiwi Camp Dry.

What are they made out of? Biwell works awesome on most leathers.

Personally, I would just recommend getting a pair of waterproof boots like Chippewa logger boots and be done with it. I tried all the waterproofing gimmicks and the bottom line is if they aren't waterproof to begin with they won't be waterproof when you need it.

40yrs ago we heated up the boots a little (oven at 125) then coated them with mink oil.
20yrs ago I bought some with gor-tex,, best money I spent for keeping feet dry.. now there's several kinds of material that claims to make footware WP....

BTW... Mink oil only worked as long as the snow isn't deeper than the soles are thick...

Fresh bear grease melted over a campfire.

I've learned that if it is liquid, it is cleaner but not as waterproof.
You seriously do need one of the messier greases & some heat to soak it in.

Default I'm assuming the boots are leather?

The best product I've found for waterproofing leather is Redwing Boot Oil. It penetrates deep into the leather and last longer than anything else I've tried. It's the only thing I use on all of my leather.

I would read waterproofing product lables. Some sprays work good and still let the leather breath.

Check with a leather repair shop or sporting goods store.
