Ironhand,

That was a typo I guess. I've heard dealer called "stealers" so much looking through the posts that I guess I just had that in my head.

The guys over at Alamo City H-D have been really great and they did get me the bike cheaper that any other dealer in the area. Sorry if that offended you somehow.

lh4x4,

I think I mentioned a Night Rod Special in December. I was in Afghanistan at the time and thinking of getting a Night Rod Special (doing a lot of research and what not). After I get home on 3 March I decided that as my first bike the NRS wasn't practical and my OL would be very uncomfortable as a passenger on an NRS so I went with the Fat Bob.

No problem . . . the dealer probably forgot to tighten the battery cables. They usually keep the battery disconnected until the bike is sold. They do this to keep the battery from running down due to the miniscule drain that the speedometer and the ECU have (~0.000035 ampers or less), even when the bike is turned off. Day to day this isn't an issue, but over 30 days or so it can drain a battery. This isn't to excuse the dealer 'cause they should have checked this before they gave it to you . . . more to give you peace of mind about the technical nature of the problem. But . . . I'd kind of take a walk around the bike and check all the fluid levels, the tire pressures, etc. If they forgot to tighten the battery cables it makes me wonder if they checked all the other stuff they're supposed to check before they hand you the keys.

brand new bike. must be nice. They should not have let it out of the dealership without a complete check. This seems like a common theme in these threads. new bikes, something wrong, takes weeks to get them right. No way to run a business. there I'm done. thanks for listening.
