Default Building up your tool box. Need a new tool......Do you buy it?

I'm 48...I'm not a mechanic but I really enjoy wrenching (probably because I don't do it for a living), right?

I bought my first real rollaway tool chest about 15 years ago (still have it).

When I do a project on the bike or whatever & I need a tool that I don't own........ I'll buy it. Over the years, I've amassed a pretty decent tool selection.

So.......does anyone else do this?

I dig tools.

Yup, I do that too . .the hard part after doing it for the last 30 years is that I have some tools that I can't remember what they're for . ..like a special wrench to adjust the valves on a Honda 750 . . . .or an adapter for a compression tester for a chainsaw I haven't owned in 15 years.

Learned long ago not to borrow and especially not to loan my tools out.
After a while I forget who has em then it's good-bye for good.

I most certainly do...and I mean I don't buy the cheap ones either. I finally broke down and bought a two stage, 80 gal compressor the other day. I had to order it and it will be here week after next. Now I'm eyeballing die grinders and impact wrenches on the matcotool.com website. I'm also wanting to buy a paint gun and a welder. Ive even looked at the dyno machines but a new from dynajet the pros use are like $25k! Probably won't get one of those.

I do this for a living and yes I buy what I need and then some. My toolbox was $11,000, I buy mostly Snap-on they are expensive but well woth it. The only problem is I have special tools that are 30 years old and never use them anymore and now worth nothing.

LoL...Mostly Craftsman (plenty good enough for a guy like me)...

I have like 3 or 4 Snap-On tools, I wish I could afford more of them......top notch stuff...if you make a living with them, good call on buying the best.

Usually I just lift em from Sears...amazing how many crescent wrenches will fit down the front of your pants...gotta watch out for the locking pliers though.
