Our HOG Chapter is much more friendly that what you have described, but there is still some of the clique thing going on. I think that is probably the case with any organization. If you enjoy some of the events, etc., go to what you like avoid what you don't, and get as much out of your experience as you can.

Regards,

Bill

Annie,
Each local chapter is unique and I am going to give mine another chance as well. I guess I had picked a bad night and although there are supposedly hundreds of members I only saw 30 to 40 and the big concern that night was the beer wasn't cold enough or coming fast enough. I do have several friends in the local chapter and will go with them next time. The ironic thing is that I know of far more 'former' local chapter members who are still part of the naional org and are still active riders....

Hi Annie. I just recently got my Ultra and as of yet haven't joined H.O.G. It bugs me a little that you have to join national before you join local (why couldn't the process be all local?) and pay seperately to both. I think I would contact one of the club officers and tell him/her how I felt. Rudeness is not acceptable to me. If they don't like new members why don't they close the membership and just let nature take it's course. After everyone dies off or just get too old to ride maybe they will change or start up a new one.[8D] (Just kidding!) In my opinion cliques are everywhere, but they shouldn't be a normal part of a club. Heck I love talking to people and when I'm ignored, I get offended pretty quick.
Go ahead and give them another shot, but if you're ignored again, tell a club officer that you don't appreciate the way you feel left out. They may not be aware of it if nobody says anything. If anything, the way they respond will tell you whether or not to move on.

Annie, ... There are only two clubs that I ever felt welcomed by and really belonged to: The Buzzards MC a desert racing club (motorcycles) and The South Bay Wheelmen a bicycle racing club. In both cases you proved your worth by racing and were immediatly treated as a brother/sister no icebreakers need. All the other clubs treated me as you describe.

The South Bay Wheelmen in spite of the name had many women riders.

Our club will welcome you as long as you do as your told. Just kidding. Anyway, That sucks the way you were treated. What is the use of belonging to a Chapter if you feel alone when your with them.

No one is going to talk to you if you go to a meeting. You have to go on a ride first. My opinion, meeting people go to talk to their existing freinds, People who go on rides, go to meet new people.

Joe is right, Go on rides. We went to three meetings and said this isn't for us, then went on rides and met some great people. I made it a point to talk to new members if they lived on my side of the river at meeting, no one else will. Be careful with the power people and officers. In my club, if you do what your asked to do, you will get attacked, left on the side of the road, just be careful. I'm going to give another Chapter a try because I have met a lot of nice people from all walks of life.

What exactly are you saying here?
That sounds more like a gang than a HOG chapter.
