They have a little less tread depth than the stock dunlops but they will work. They also have a little less load capacity so I wouldn't put them on a touring bike. I've used them a couple times with good success.
I would guess that you've checked out other tire posts. Metzlers seem to be the tire to go with, you've only got two vs. four with a cage, go with the best, not what you can afford. my .02.

I have to agree here.........only two tires between you and, "well you know......"
I tried to use that tire, the side walls or load rating is not the same as the "Harley" branded tire, and it always felt under inflated unless I ran 42psi or better in it, then the center of the tire wore out way too soon.
The D404 is a 77H Meaning 908 pounds 130 MPH
The D407 is a 78H Meaning 937 pounds 130 MPH
I replaced it with a D407 that was 180mm instead of the stock 170, which boosted it to an 81H, 1019 pounds and 130 MPH, and YES the 29 pounds difference between the stock size tires made a lot of difference
