Coming back from Phoenix, AZ to Albuquerque, NM through a pretty desolate area my girl friend's bike ran out of gas in the middle of a pretty windy rainstorm. Fortunately the next town was only 2~3 miles down the road ( 1 gas station!). I had to leave her with her bike to run ahead to get gas. While I was gone at least a dozen bikers passed her on the highway and none stopped to check to see what was the problem. I passed at least 6 on the way back to her.
I never pass by a biker along side of the highway that appears to be in distress without stopping to check. What do you think, would you have stopped?
I always slow and wait for the thumbs up/down from them. Down I stop and up I keep rolling. If I'm in my truck, I'll hit the quick horn to let them know I'll stop if needed.
Now, if I'm the one on the side of the road and I see a bike coming, I give them the same signal so they don't have to stop for no reason.
My friend, Not a single biker passed your woman that day. A bunch of self centered dinks might have rode by on their bikes but you saw no bikers!
I stop for all broke down bikers. Some need help some don't. I pull over for all seniors as well as those who have their family sitting on the side of the road!
Glad you guy's made it home!
Ride safe!!!
Hatch.

You should of chased those POSERS down and beat their asses, one for pretending to be bikers, and second for not stopping for a female broke down on side of the road.
Usually any female on the side of the road will have more help than she needs around here.
Theres a bunch of dogs out there just looking for one in need.
I will stop for anyone, don't have to be a harley either, even if its only to let someone use the phone..
Don't carry tools to wrench on them, but most of the time, as in Ur case, its just gas.
Don't see many broke down anymore.. lot better than the 60's and 70's. Back then U needed a trailer to help all of them. They were on the roadside all the time and usually needed a lot more than just gas.
On one hand it sucks that they didn't stop. On the other there are some crazies out there, and who knows what might have happened? Glad to hear it worked out but it might have been better to send her to town on your bike and you wait. I'm not questioning what you did but I don't trust that many people in this world anymore.
I think that a lot of people don't stop because they figure everyone has cell phones, half of everyone has things like AAA and what-not. I like to think that I am a bit on the traditional side in terms of manners, so if I see a biker on the side of the road (who isn't taking a leak) I stop. If I see a Helmet on the ground, I stop. If I have any thought that they may need assistance, I stop. I try to do the same with cars, as I believe in the "Good deed daily" motif, but I haven't had a lot of opportunities to help.
My wife was pulled off the road on the I-10 in our old 2005 Trailblazer (BTW, don't buy these vehicles, they are time-bombs, seriously) I had gone to a nearby gas station on the 'king to get fuel ($14 for a 1 gallon gas tank on the reservation, yea) She had her hazards on, and her and our infant child in the car, and she said that more than a dozen Police officers, and almost as many bikers passed. She wasn't too upset, because I was on my way, but she was surprised that someone didn't stop, especially after I profess to her that Bikers always try to help those in need.
i stop for anyone that looks liek they need help, but up here we have a law that says you have t opull over and stop to talk on a cell phone or $250 fine. so alot of the time i see someone stopped they are on a cell phone. i

I'm all for stopping to help when I can. But here is a question. I usually can be found in the far left lane. Most breakdowns are parked on the right hand shoulder. On a three or four lane interstate, it's damn tough to get over in time to offer any assistance. So would the right thing to do be going to the next off-ramp and head back past them, and then turn around again so as to come up on the unfortunate soul again?
