Not much that I can add, except to say that I'd wait and find a Bagger. All the others are great machines, but due to your size, you need one as big as they come!

I guess I must not be too fussy. I am 6'1" and 270 and feel very comfortable on my XL 1200R...

Thanks again

Would a "Full size" Harley be suitable as a first bike though. You see the other prob I have, well not really a prob, but I work out of the country for 6 month at a time and only back for approx 6 weeks at a time which is when I would be using. So it would be hard for me to justify spending the cost of a bagger for something am only going to be on for 6 weeks in every 6 month. I think after listening to all the advice (reading) its either gonna have to be an XL1200C or a used Dyna. Like someone posted im gonna have to get out there and see if I can do some test rides. Im not up for a Metric though, they just dont do it for, personally. I see where your coming from with the name Moose though, lol. I dont want to look like a bear in a pram if you know what I mean

I agree,a big guy like you will out grow a sporster in 2 weeks

I believe a Dyna Wide Glide would be much more comfortable and would have more power.

Check out the Dynas. The cost is a little more, but think of it as a good investment. Unlike cages you will get most of the stock price back when you sell or trade.

At your size I would not even consider a Sportster. It will be like a 12 year old riding a tricycle.

Wide Glide would be the minimum, and you should really be thinking touring model. Maybe a Roadking if you don't want or can't afford all the bells. Even if you only get to ride it 6 weeks or so at time, that riding time should be enjoyable, and a highlight. On a Sportster it is not going to be.

Just an opinion.

Regards,

Bill

I have noticed this when I was looking at some used ones. There must of been like ÂŁ500 - ÂŁ600 differance between the two. Seems Hardley worth buying Used when you can get a New one for almost the same price, Granted it wont a those few extras on it you normaly find on used ones but even so.

In your case, ABSOLUTELY. In fact I know of several people, including some ladies that started on touring bikes.

Do Not be intimadated by the seemingly large size. They are well balanced and easy to handle, and much more suitable for you than anything else in the Harley line.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks thats kind of what I wanted to hear because eveytime Ive been to the dealership Ive always just walked straight passed them and thought, Wow, they are very cool but never thought it would be an option as a first bike. Think I will go back with a fresh mind and look at EVERYTHING.
