Knot Tyers
I need help in finding the right materials for a knoe theme on my Softail. I want to start with a couple of turks heads on the grips, but, i don't want to make them too bulky. What should I use that won't become slick with use or in the rain? Also, where can I get a good throttle core to use as a base for the throttle grip?

Parachute chord, or leather strips... 
You putting the turk's heads on outer or inner of the grips? Being an old boy scout and sailor, from the days when knowing your nots saved your life, I kinda like the sound of what yer gonna try. Post up some pics of when you get it started and through to the finish. I think it'll be interesting!
Possible suggestion: Double the lines in the turk's head knot, then continue with a braid on down (or up) the grips?

Actually I was planning on doing the entire grip in a two tone/color turks head, maybe a pinapple if it doesn't get too thick to grip comfortably.
