Default Another cycle death

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- A 7-year-old boy is dead following a motorcycle accident in North Las Vegas. The child was one of two on the bike with their father, when they hit a car near Clayton and Tropical Parkway.
Loved ones and nearby residents gathered on Dawn View Lane after learning Victor John Camacho was thrown from the motorcycle. Kathy Williams witnessed the accident.
"As I came home… I was walking up the walkway to my front door, and I heard, ‘No, no, no, no… skid, bang," she said. She rushed from her home, called 911 and gave CPR instructions to the boy's father. "All the yelling and screaming that was going on, everything was very chaotic," she said.
North Las Vegas Police say the 31-year-old father had his two boys on the motorcycle, when a Pontiac, driven by a 19-year-old girl, pulled out in front of them. Investigators say Camacho was on the back of the motorcycle and an 8-year-old boy was on the bike in front of his father. The 8-year-old and father suffered minor injuries. The boy was wearing what's described as a novelty helmet.
The terrible accident left the neighborhood shaken. "This kid is flying through the air, and he hit the ground, and I'm thinking it's like a rag flying through the air," Williams said. "His little body was almost immediately lifeless."
The accident also hit police hard, and they hope people learn a lesson from this dangerous ride. "If the motorcycle is only doing 25 mph, you'd think what can go wrong?" North Las Vegas Police Sgt. Tim Bedwell said. "Well, what can go wrong is a Pontiac can make a U-turn in front of you, and your child is deceased. No parent wants that."
Police have not made any arrests. The father will likely be ticketed for having too many riders on the bike and for breaking helmet laws. He could face child endangerment charges as well, according to police.
The driver of the car, meanwhile, could face a ticket for an illegal U-turn.

It was later reported the the child died of blunt chest trama.

Wow, what a tragedy.

How is it the driver of the car that caused the accident only gets charged with an illegal U turn??? What a joke.

I best not comment on the dad having both his children on his bike wearing only "novelty" helmets...whatever that is.

Stupid driver, stupid father. Surely no one here agrees that putting two children in novelty helmets on a motorcycle with you is a good idea. I am sure it will haunt him (and hopefully the POS teenage driver) for life. RIP little man. RIP.

Very unfortunate. Now the dad and the rest of the family has to live with the dad's actions.
