A regular metal band el cheapo works fine for me. I bought mine at KMart for about 4 bucks.

Use a Snap-On at the shop for all the filters that are on too tight for the normal end cap model.

Slip the coke bottle under the filter.
Use the ratchet to take off the filter, letting it, and the oil inside, to fall inside the coke bottle.

Easy, no mess way to get the filter off and keep oil from getting all over your motor.

.
This is the very best way to do it....I got mine from Harley.....works like a champ...can't see it wearing out either...this is it....$10.00 and worth every penny....I read the 2 liter bottle trick on here some months back and it is a great idea...

I don't have a lot of room so I paid $14.00 for the filter wrench from the dealer, seems like a good deal to me.

HD Billett one that fits on your 3/8th ratchett extension and fits the HD oil filters exclusively as far as I know, and it has never failed...Buy it once and it will last you a lifetime. $20.00

I use one of these.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

After what I've learned on this forum I'm thinking that not using this one will void your warranty. If your warranty is expired not using one could cause a potentially dangerous condition resulting in severe injury or death!!
