Throttle hand falls asleep, what can you do to solve this?
Within 5 minutes my throttle hand is falling asleep. This only started to do this recently. Last 5 rides. I haven't changed anything on the bike except the hand grips. Doesn't make sense that those are the culprit. But Maybe....
I have tried a throttle boss, no change. I have tried several different gripping methods. It does help to relax my sholders but it doesn't fix it.
I am wondering if I developed carpaltunnel in that hand...any one have experance in this?
I've ridden 15K miles without ever having this as an issue. Get a sore hand some times from gripping to long but never asleep.
I feel for you. I have the same problem and am trying everything I can to put and end to it. My ride is a Sporty and I hope that curing vibration will cure me.
I feel your pain! But the difference is that I didn't ride 15k miles before noticing the issue. I'm assuming my reason is getting hypothermia in my hands and feet in the Marines but I'm not certain. What's your story?
Exercise helps. Hand grip springy thingy. Not too strong of a spring. Use it several times (a lot) during the day. Take it with you and use it when you drive. Use it when you watch tv. Use it a lot and you'll start to see a major difference in how your hands feel while riding.

I suffer badly from this also. Of course grips will make a big difference. I have the ISO-Grips. Gloves can make a big difference too; especially be sure they're not too tight! I'm watching for some w/ gel-padded palms. Bars which are too high or which are so far forward as to result in a lot of weight leaning on your hands can cause numbing.
Continually changing your grip, moving your hand, using various finger combinations all seem to provide some temporary relief. I regularly let go the throttle and shake the hell out of my hand and arm to help get the circulation going again. Massaging your hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, neck helps. Stopping frequently helps. Monotonous high-speed turnpike driving calls for the friction throttle-lock or cruise-control.
If you want real help, go see a good DOCTOR and tell them about the issue. They are better qualified to find out whats really causing the problem, and on how to fix it.
Ideas so far may all be good, but you can't base YOUR problem, on something similar that someone else has. You need a proper diagnosis and repair plan.
Back up, dude!! Don't overlook the obvious. You didn't have problems till you changed your grips. Grip diameter, shape and texture all play a role. Change them back and I bet you a beer your problems will go away.

I had the same problem for the last few years. I crushed my throttle hand in a fight and it always hurts, but the problems I was having when riding were different than the everyday pain. There is an Orthopedic surgeon that created a pair of gloves that are awesome and these gloves have stopped ALL the pain and numbness in my hands associated with riding a bike. My Dad was complaining of the same issues so I bought him a pair too. We can both ride long distances now (all day) without any problems. They have a pad in the palm that keeps pressure off the nerves in the middle of your hand, which is what causes the numb feeling in your hands. You should try a pair, I bet they'll help. I recommend these gloves to anyone whose hands go numb or have pain in their hands from riding

Any other thoughts on it?
Go see a hand specialist! I had CT and the endoscopic surgery for it but the wrist is not 100% the same. If you do have CT it will continually get worse until you get it treated. In the early stages there are non-surgical remedies but once it goes past a certain point, surgery is the only option.
