If this is a one time trip then just rent a trailer from uhaul, pretty cheap and you don't have to screw around with anything. One note of caution. Not sure about the cts but it probably has an aluminum bumper sub-structure. The hitch kit I had for an Olds Aurora I owned had myler strips used to insulate the steel hitch parts from the aluminum sub-structure it was bolted to. Winters with road salt will cause the steel/aluminum inteface to corrode to failure with 2-4 winters. Not much of a problem in TX, but make sure you use them when you install the hitch. (I worked in research for a company that manufacturered stamped structural aluminum parts for the automotive industry and still remember when steel bumpers were falling off in states with heavy road salt use. Some of the cars were only a couple years old)
It tows GREAT! And the transmission acts fine so far. No need for manual shifting but if I ever encounter hills I may press the sport shift button for the transmission.
Thanks. I hope it works out. It'll be a big change but I love the area. They do have a relocation package, I'm just not sure what it includes right now. I would love to ride it down and have been leaning towards that option. I've never ridden that far before so I'll be looking forward to it.
