Default Who rides an "uninspectable" bike?

I am really considering buying this Shovelhead bobber at a good price but without turn signals or a speedo it will never pass a PA inspection. I could eventually put these parts on to make it pass but it looks so clean in its current state.
How many people ride bikes like this and does anyone see a problem with this? I'm on the fence and looking for opinions.
Thanks in advance.

turn signals arent much to put on the have some very clean looking ones out there, and as for a speedo, get one that goes on the bars.

Good look and keep us posted on if you get it or not

You could get the miniature bar end turn signals and mount a rudimentary speedo somewhere near the rear cylinder head.

I'd buy it and either (a) put signals on for inspection and then take them back off or (b) find some signals that workl with the bike to make it legal. Turn signals cost very little compared to a cool custom bike and even if you put a big set of Sportster turn signals on it, it'll still be as cool as the law allows.

Saw a nice looking speedo mounted near the cyl head on a custom chopper at my local HD dealer the other day.

With imagination, you can make it legal and still cool.

I ride with a friend that has a 76 superglide he bought new, rides it every weekend and hasn't inspected the bike since 1978 in NYC he says he has never been questioned about it when stopped.

Are you sure it even needs inspected? I know most states don't require inspections once they reach "antique" status, usually around 20-25 years old. Double check that.

check your local inspection laws in respect to the turn signals, up here anything built before 73 doesnt require turn signals. also i used a bicycle speedo for mine to pass inspection
http://www.amazon.com/Schwinn-SW654-.../dp/B000DZD3FQ

in this pic you can sorta see it on my bars right between my risers

this pic shows the sensor installed on the fork and the magnet on the spoke

once it is calibrated it is accurate up to .5 mph and also has trpmeter, odometer, max speed, avg speed, temp readout, backlight. passed the local safety inspection as it was functioning speedometer. if you go that route though DO NOT get the wirless one as it wont read properly

Thank you for all of your responses. I was really torn between this being a good or bad purchase but since everyone seems so neutral about it I'm no longer worried. I have no intention of making this bike 'legal' at this time. I'm pretty sure both the speedo and turn signals were cited in the most useless part of my bike thread.
I am positive that these parts need to be on to pass inspection. But I don't feel like I need the state to tell me I need new tires. I can figure that out without the charge.

I'd buy it then move some place where inspection is non-existent. Just another money-making gov't scam.

(sc has no inspection.)
