Default Road my bike to work every day this week

I have a 18 mile journey each way to work. And for the first time I did it everyday monday through friday. And I am thinking that harley should come out with a chrome coated baseball bat that I can attach to my bike.

Bunch of Cagers during the week cut me off. made turns right in front of me. Failed to yeild. Tailgators. Various bad driving.

Worst case was yesterday. Some idiot pulls out of a Burger King right in front of me to make a left hand turn. So I beep at the guy. So he decides that is reason to stop in the middle of the road and block both lanes of traffic and starts screaming cuss words at me. He has a girl in the the truck that looks to be about 4. Then he finally pulls up beside me and rolls his window down and starts to curse some more. I didn't hear what he had to say because I was yelling so loud. I was thinking a baseball bat would have been nice right about then. This is the second time I have experienced a person doing something totally insane and then yelling at me like it was my fault.

Another great instance of bad driving was minvan ahead of me was going about 15 mph under the speed limit so I decide to pass them accross dotted yellow lines Well as I pass the minivan I see there is a car in front of the minivan going slow too...well there is a car about 1/4 mile ahead oncoming so I pull behind the car. And what does the car do? Slams on its breaks and starts to swerve. Who teaches these people how to drive?

I don't think I will ride everyday in a week again. It makes riding less pleasurable. You have to be on your guard the entire trip. By the time you get home you don't even feel like going out for a ride to relax.

Way to save gas!

I'm working toward everyday but so far have only made 3 days in one week. Figure by the time I make it to a full week it will be winter[&:]
I'm also 18 miles away take the freeway in the mornings and sometimes the side canyon at night (2 gallons a day in the car and only 1 gallon on the bike). To night I took the canyon which dumps me out on the main drag. Got caught behind the dweeb that sat late for every light...god was that annoying. Then they decided they weren't gonna signal to make a turn but instead slam on thier brakes in front of me....the almost had a motorcycle butt ornament...Luckily I keep a decent buffer. Funny I rarely have problems, if any, on the freeway.

Yeah the freeway is probably better. Funny thing is my first 16 miles are windy country roads with hidden side streets and I never have problems in any of those areas it is just the last two miles where I enter civilization and the people in this area are pretty rude drivers.

Freeway is better, I take it more then the canyon road...I only have 2 bad areas going to work that way. Crossing the freeway after getting off the cars getting off the other side believe they have the the right-away when they have the red light and a bad blind corner type stoplight where I have already been rearended in my cage.

That's the problem...I think that they learned to drive at the bumper cars at the carnival. I hate to say it, it seems to be getting worse instead of better.

I have only taken my truck to work once since I picked up my bike. If it was not for my shift starting at 0600hrs I would more than likely be in my truck more. Today makes 34 days of 100+ heat. It is really getting old, being that hot all the time. At 10PM it is still in the 90's.

I've got a 32 mile round trip to work each day and its rare that I don't ride each day We've had a pretty dry summer here and I haven't had to take the truck in to work more than four or five times since May....Thankfully I have none of the traffic problems you guys have. I just have to keep a sharp eye out for deer since I work nights.

hang in there, man. youre right that motorcycling requires that you be on your guard at all times, no matter if you are pleasure riding, commuting, or just going to the market. regular riding, just using the bike for everything is what connects you to it.

it gets easier. you ride the bike everyday, and the crappy drivers lose influence over just being happy to ride. my morning commute is wall to wall lanesplitting minutia, car by car, inches of clearance. some days are wet and gridlocked, others are great weather and empty roads. it rocks though. i get to work excited. no one ever drives to work in a pickup truck and says "man, todays commute rocked!". my commute totally rocks more often than not, and that includes winter.

commute riding isnt as fun a a blast thru the twisties, but its better than grinding to work in a car.
