Wow ... the LEO's have been out in force over the past week or so between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I-10, state routes ... all over the place. Thought it might die down but today it was even heavier presence than over the holiday. Usually you can drive past them at 10 to 15 over and barely get noticed. But lately folks are getting hammered for 5 over. I *almost* blinked my highs to warn of a State Trooper I just passed but saw JUST in time I was about to "warn" a sherrif.
Any other places seeing this or are we just getting cracked down on for our (admittedly) terrible driving habits and lead feet?
bigtime LEO presence around here the last 2 weeks or so.
not only the highways (i swear there was a cop ever half mile on the beach roads last week) but even in closer to my house, cops were set up all over residential roads.
it's the annual beginning of summer gonna "crack down" on everything phase.

Yep...Here too...Especially across the Atchafalaya bridge.

back to normal by the middle of june.
Looks like we aren't the only 'lucky ones' then. I even saw a couple way out in the bayous. It's like ... really? They were hiding in brush by pipe racks. Pulled off just around blind turns. Saw one in a construction zone hiding behind a massive crane. Crazy I tell ya ...
The click it or ticket campaign is going on around here...The police have road blocks or checkpoints at various locations...Claiming to check for seat belt violations...But the main reason is for revenue enhancement...They really rack up on the fines expired tags...Expired inspection stickers...no insurance...And dui s.

Just got back from a 14 state road trip...by FAR...the most LEO's were in Louisiana. We were on the way home and in a hurry after extending the trip by 2 days, therefore, we were on I-20 and not backroads. Plus, it was yesterday (Memorial Day). Still though, we were in in KY, TN, NC, AL, MS and TX the same weekend and saw as many or more LEO's in Louisiana as all the other's combined. For once, I was kinda glad to see them because the cager's were driving like maniacs yesterday (more than usual...fulll moon?).
We did see quite a few in TN on the Chalohala Skyway (143/165) but I'm guessing they were looking for the guys on sport bikes REALLY speeding. Didn't see one LEO in TX...which is highly unusual...esp on a holiday weekend.
The past year, I've noticed about 4 times the number of cops around Dallas and in Texas out giving speeding tix...even the Constables are now giving tickets. My presumption is they're trying to get more money for the city since tax revenue is down. Sure has slowed me down....

Yeah...I saw one yesterday along I-20 in LA hiding way up in the brush/trees off the side of the road...barley noticed him....never seen that before.
My friend was going about 90 mph to catch up with me after we got separated by some cages cutting in between us...she ran up on a LEO coming onto the hwy from a feeder, but thankfully he was looking for bigger fish to fry. Would've really sucked because we'd been cruising at about 76/77 mph (in a 70) because of all the LEO's.
theres a spot out here by the beaches where you're riding a highway to its "end", and then without exiting or anything, the speed limit on that same road steps down not so gradually from 55 to 45 to 35 in the span of about a mile.
bigtime speed trap there and it was crawling with cops
