Default Forward Controls

Hi, I am new to riding and this is my first HD (Fatbob)
This may seem a dumb question however........

When riding with a bike fitted with Forward controls should I ride with my foot resting on the brake pedal? It feels more comfortable riding with it on the pedal however I an concerned that I may rest my foot to hard and engage the brake light.

Any feedback please.

As long as the light is not on and you can get your foot back down to the pedal in panic stop, no problem.

We had a Heritage Softail come through our shop a few years back where the rider rested his heel on the rear brake pedal for many miles...Caught his saddle bag on fire...Ruined his caliper and rotor...A truck driver had to flag him down...He didn't know his saddlebag was burning...We got enough parts together to get him back on the road...Gives Mississippi burning a new meaning .

Maybe try some heel rests. I got the extended pegs because my boots hit the pedal too easily.

agreed. There must be a way around this for you, the results of this will not be good for you or your bike IMO.

Not a good hanit to get into. Keep your foot close so you can use the brake if need be, but don't rest your foot on the brake.

If you are worried having to brake suddenly, keep your front brake lever covered by your hand. Your reaction time will sufficient and the front brake does most of the stopping anyway.
