Yesterday the wife and I were out riding. We just entered a work zone doing close to 40mph. The speed limit sign I saw said 15. Less than 50 feet after that sign were 2 motorcycle cops with radar guns. I had time to see them clocking other drivers, but as I passed them, going way over 15, they both put down their radar guns and just waved at us.
What would you have wrote if they gave you a ticket? Nice to get a break when you are being inattentive. I wonder what speed traffic was flowing at. A lot of times I enter construction zones and the traffic is flying and all over my butt.
Construction speed zones, school zones, pedestrian crossings are the places that I make sure I am doing the posted speed, or less, depending on the presence of people. I worked hwy constructionémaintenance for many years and know what to watch for... like inattentive workers who may be new to the job and may accidentally stray into a traffic lane. It is these locations that I really don`t give a hoot how many drivers behind me are upset about it.

I definitely should have been watching the posted limits. Where I live - Tulsa - they have so much street construction go on now. If you're in town, you can't go 2 or 3 blocks without hitting a construction zone, so I should've known better. Of course this was around 7:15 in the evening, with no workers present. Kind of strange to see motorcycle cops out at that time, at least around here. I just thought it was cool that they waved to us, or maybe they were waving to my wife?
I was in Tulsa back in January. Wow, you're right it's a mess downtown. we played hell just trying to get to the Spaghetti Warehouse. No doubt, you got lucky. But those are easy areas to get in trouble. It's best just to be careful and do the posted.
Don't know about OK. But in TEXAS if ya get caught in a construction zone with workers present. The fine is Double. Ouch. Glad they understood......lol

Last Sunday, wife and I went to the beach, parked in a metered space along side another bike. The parking space was diagonal so I pulled head in like the other bike. A minute later, a cop walks up and asks, "leaving or just getting here?" I said, "Just getting here." He said, "youd better park with your back tire against the curb or the traffic control will ticket you." I thanked him and turned the bike around, back tire against the curb. He went out of his way to save me a couple of bucks!
