Default Son's sidecar ride

Yesterday was a bit cloudy and wet at home so my wife, my son Spencer and I got in the car and drove to Uke's HD in Kenosha, WI, about 45 minutes north of home. They were celebrating their 80th anniversary and having a big party. My wife needed a helmet and the dealers near us have no selection so it was a good day to check out the sale they were having.

After we finished shoppinig and were headed back out to the car and really nice gal approached my wife and asked if Spencer had ever been able to enjoy the thrill of a ride. My wife answered no but he would love it someday. "Today is the day" she said as her husband had is 94 Road King with sidecar there and would love to give him a ride.

My son Spencer is disabled and can not enjoy my Road King with me as he can't sit on the back. I have always wanted to get him in a sidecar to see how he would like it.

We met Jim and he went to get his rig. Spencer was giggling waiting for him to come, he was so excited. Jim and I loaded him in the sidecar, I jumped on the back and away we went.

SPENCER LOVED IT!!!

Jim was such a cool guy. Shows that we are all a big family and want to share the thrill with all we can. Thanks again Jim, your the best.

Now I need to save and find a sidecar for my Road King so Spencer and I can tour around and share the thrills together.

Yes Sir, my baby daughter, now 33, rode thousands of miles in a '91 Ultra sidecar with her mom driving the rig. Now that she has a four year son of her own, she REALLY misses those days

very cool story. That was very thoughtful of them to offer

I'd love to have a sidecar rig, but anytime I mention the idea, my wife says she wouldn't ride in one.

Man that is great! Your son will never forget this first ride. Save that money and you will never regret it. Then you will be the one giggling and can't wait for you and your son to have a man's day out together.

We had the same experience this weekend with a disabled youth. Gman116 and I got some of our club members together to have a joint ride to take this young man in my sidecar for a trip around Cazenovia Lake and DeRyder reservoir. He was smiling from the minute he got in my car and grabberd the windshield till the moment he got out for the pizza party in the park. It makes you feel real good to do something like that for someone that deserves it.

That will probably be the #1 best family investment (at least toy wise!) I bought one a couple months ago , since the lovely wife unit has not had many chancs to ride since giving birth to our son. We flew out to San Diego as a family to pick it up .... wife, myself and our at the time 19 month old son , not really sure what his reaction would be to it , as kids of that age are somewhat easy to freak out. He took to it like a duck to water , with hands going out to catch wind and straight up in the air , really enjoyed the ride back to Tampa. And now we go out during the week as a family , ad not like going out in one of the convertibles...... plus he ges aview which little one's usually just get to look at the back of the seat in front of them.

wonder if there is a sidecar setup that allows the sidecar to be detatched within minutes..or are they "once it's on...it's on"

for my ultra, when I get it, i'd like to be able to have one when I need it and store it in the garage when I don't.
