So I'm riding down to my dad's boat early yesterday morning, it was a little foggy out but I was having a nice ride. I come up to this pickup truck with a gas grill in the back, right up against the tailgate. All of a sudden the thing flips over the back of the truck smashes into the tailgate and is hanging off the back of the truck by this one little piece of rope this jack*** used to tie it down. I had to dodge the grates and a few more pieces of it, but luckily most of it stayed intact. I hope his tailgate was smashed up good.
I read some good advice about thirty years ago in I think Cycle magazine where the writer said that he never, ever follows an open truck or a vehicle hauling an open trailer with a load. His bottom line was that it was better to break the speed limit and pass 'em then end up sliding down the road behind 'em.
I once had to dodge a plastic truck bed liner in the middle of the interstate! I wonder if the dumb @ss had the awareness to realize it was missing?
Bikers should have the right to hit a cager with anything they allow to fall off/out of their cage. Lit cigarettes definately included. It is only fair...

I agree with the cigarettes, but use pennies instead. A lit cigarette won't do any damage to the car.

Heading down the highway to work on the silver devil one morning earlier in the year. Beautiful clear and sunny weather, no rain or fog.
The traffic is sitting on 65 Mph to 75 Mph an hour and I'm in the right lane. Next to me in the left lane and slightly in front is a work truck with a stack of 6' by 4' ply sheets or plasterboards on a roof rack.
I look across and as if in slow motion the top sheet sails off the top, up in the air about 15 foot and back into the traffic following on behind. I'm not sure if it caused an accident, but it sure slowed everyone down. I accelerated slightly and the young fool driving isn't even aware and is having a joke with his mate in the passenger seat. The silver devil has a nice loud horn so I got his attention and signalled him to pull over which he does.
Had I been behind him I'd have been history (visions of Decapitation).
Rule of motorcycle riding No. 1 - Never follow a car or truck carrying a load.

I have read this before too, and agree, would gladly explain my action to any officer of the law.
