I had a custom numbered paint set when I had my 05' Road King. I bought it from a guy in Virginia (brand new still in the box). Paid big bucks for it to. To this day, I have never seen one like it.
I'd post a pic, but that was 4 Harleys ago, and I don't have any.........
My bike is # 27 of 200. Seen several real close. My last bike was a road king 2002 screaming eagle with ghost flames (The red version) There was a small amount of the reds made in 2002 and I ran into the exact bike at a rally 2 hours from home. I have a couple paint issues with this numbered one so it will probably be custom painted down the road (no time soon) It seems all the numbered paint jobs are 20 something or 80 something Do they paint 200 of each LOL ?
Here's another SkullTrain set on my Softail. Bike was originally an FXSTi which has since been "fattened" up with an FL front end, 16" wheel and Fatboy paint set. I have an Ultra Classic as well which is our two-up ride, but I primarily ride the Softail solo. I had my wife's portrait airbrushed onto the trailing edge of the Fatboy front fender as this was the only spot available that wasn't painted as per the SkullTrain theme. With a 95" Screamin' Eagle upgrade, this bike is a keeper. I figured I might as well have her painted on so that she's always along for the ride!
Most dealers have copies of the old P&A books on hand. You can look it up in there.
My Deuce is #52/150. Radical Paint Set "Metal Plates". Two variations were made, in gray like mine, or burgandy. I have seen two other burgandy schemes over the years. Never seen another like this one.
I was told they don't really produce the the number listed. For example in the 03 P&A guide it said 200 available. Then my set came with '' of 150. A dealer told me that the second number is the most potential of that set they might make.
