Thanks for the informative reply. I am in a problem solving field and happen to be an avid rider so I decided to research the issue. I have been working with some top motorcycle experts which has been a great help from an education standpoint. The big problem I have is that a lot of the "heat" related research is being done by people who offer as cure without really knowing the issues. Also, I like beating my own path to a problem so I wanted to start from scratch. Another issue is that this also appears to be geographical as well.
I am concentrating on Cali bikes because thats where I am and they have bigger restrictions
As for your post. On 2010 models many come with the additional oil cooler. Can't tell if this if this is the premium oil cooler though Also, in previous years many dealers were recommending this "upgrade" as a way to keep temps down instead of the bike just coming with it from the factor.
Also, addressing a fix. HD in their own publications on prior years have recommend that owners remove faring, reflash, vent kits etc to keep air flowing. That to me is not an every man's fix. What about those who might not be as mechanically inclined as you or me?
