Default Used GPS

What would be the problem w/ buying a used GPS unit? I dont know enough to make the decision on my own. Software? Support? It appears I can save upwards of $550 bux buying used. Sure would like your input.

I have two refurbished GPS units. Both work fine and cost less than half of the full price. They also came with full warranty.

Oh you mean from a private seller? I guess it would have to be pretty cheap and I'd want to test it first.

Just for grins, check out these refurbished units:

Besides it just not woring at all. The only "problem" would be outdated maps. You can get new ones uploaded online at Garmin or BestBuy can do it I believe.

I'm looking for a weather/shock proof unit. Did a search on here and seemed alot of guys were using nuvi 660. Its also bluetooth and I think speech to text which might be a good option for my dumbass! But either way I also need something that will be easy to find a bike mount for.

I'm not married to the 66o yet just neede to make a decision and move on w/ purchasing. Problem now is nobody has 660 in stock and I kinda want to take it on my Texas trip,, I leave Friday.

I use an old TomTom 300 on my bike. Works just fine, rain or shine.

Stay away from Magellan Explorists, and possibly other Magellan units. The hardware became obsolete a few years ago when some of the satellites were moved.
