Great job
have you spoken to him? Because when I look at the tracking info he sent me it still reflects Haines Junction, Canada...

I can see this event as a rally but not a competition.

This event seems to have been poorly organized. For instance without mandatory GPS tracking of competitors there is no way to prove a competitor followed the rules or cheated.

The obvious question is how do you determine the winner of the $500,000 when there are no strictly enforced rules or routes and vague instructions.

Also with no mandatory rest times at check points, they are creating a situation where exhausted riders are going to crash and kill themselves or pose a danger to others.

Finally how can you have a competition where everyone has to follow the speed limit?

As for the lie detector, not sure if this is just a rumor. Lie detectors are not accepted in court because they are scientifically proven to be inaccurate. Anyone who knows how to flex their sphincter muscle can fool one. Watch Penn & Tellers show Bullshit - they did an entire episode on lie detectors.

The way this is run I can see the $500,000 purse being a fraud. The organizer could simply award the money to someone of their choosing who will then kick ~95% back to them.

Car road rallys have been doing this for years, although I don't know if any rallies of this type cover such a distance.

Same speed is one thing but did you guys read the directions? Hard to sort out on the fly with no GPS track. I live very close to the 1st stop - Destination Daytona and I had a hard time sorthing out the end of the directions.

I think with no GPS the best way would be to highlight it on a map - tape it to the bars or in a tank bag along with a little roll chart like enduro racers use. Wonder what techniques the faster guys used.

Some type of transponder would solve the "over the speed limit" or "take the highway" issues.

Looking forward to how this one sorts out.

I don't know if anything had changed but I heard that they were going to have tracking devices on the bikes. As far as the speed limit goes. It's speed at your own risk. The winner will have his license run after the race. If they see he/she had any traffic violations during the race he/she is disqualifed. As far as the prize money being a fraud. I'd hate to think that would happen. Even if they did have one of their guys in the race....he still has to finish the race. Depending on one, or even 2 guys to do this would be too much of a risk if they really wanted to get that money back in their pockets. I'd say a good percentage of riders won't even finish the race.

....er, what? 1. It won't show on your driver's license until after the final disposition of the ticket. and 2. It's illegal to use NCIC for this.

I hope this wasn't a fraud.

Well, all I can say is "THANK GOD IT'S OVER!" I followed several riders and wished them the best all along their journey. It was without a doubt a trip that will be remembered.

H-H organizers once said the winner would be announced today at the celebration. (I wonder how many or what percentage of starters made it to the final destination.) I have also read somewhere that the announcement of the true "winner" would be delayed until the return to Sturgis.

That's just what I heard. If a employer can run checks on hundreds of potential employees, I'm sure these guys can run a check on one guy.

They can run a check on them through several different sources. But nothing will get entered until final disposition of the case and they can't use NCIC. In the case of the two in Argo, AL., their court dates won't be until next month.

launched however, Greene died at the scene. Greene was not wearing a

Scroll down a bit on the link and you will find the report.
This happened on the Glenn Highway between Tok and Palmer. NOT even on the route........Probably some poor soul trying to get to Homer in time for the party pushing himself.
I sure hope this Jim Red Cloud guy is proud of himself for 2 deaths and multiple injuries on HIS big challenge. IF I were one of the top finishers in the running for the "supposed" prize money I don't think I would have the stomach to accept the "blood money" Rather I would donate it to the families of the fallen warriors.
Has anyone heard the organizers at any time recognize the sacrifice or express their sympathay for the deaths or injuries??
