I have not seen any good specs for harley synthetic. I use Spectro which has higher specs than other oils, especially for temperature. Mobile 1 is good also, but I quit using amsoil after ridding with a few wrenches. I tried synthetic 20-50 in the tranny and took it right back out, I did not like the way it shifted. I say go with a good gear oil and primary oil.
read several articals on oil and most said mobil 1 was the best
I have been running it for the last 24 thou. and love it only change every
10 thou change filters at no more than 5 thou intervals.
dealer suggestion...
I use reg dino oil in the primary from what I read syn might cause a slip
so just don't take the chance
mobil 1 in tran works great and shifts quit and smooth
Do the New York Yankees suck? To people in boston, yes. To people in Ny, no.
I use SYN3 in primary and in the engine, If you use Mobile1, Amsol, or what ever, it doesn't mean your engine is going to last any longer or shorter than mine.
Changing it regularly and keeping it clean from particulates is what matters. Use an oil designed for your bike and temp range, you'll be fine.
Syn 3 is a good enuff oil. It ain't the best. It ain't even one of the better ones. It's a Group III synthetic, and is not a synthetic blend. A Group III synthetic is actually made from a dino oil base stock.
Worst thing about it is that it is made by Citgo, a wholly owned subsidiary of the state-owned oil company of Venezuela. Why would you want to support that socialist outfit?
Not to defend the Syn 3,but what makes it so bad for the motor?I know that the cost is one issue and not to mention the **** you can get from a dealer from using other than HD 360 or Syn 3.
I know Amsoil has their report, but has anyone run syns(in their own use) long enough to really tell?Have you torn engines apart to compare oils?
This debate goes on and on like the Energizer battery!
