Yo people, wonder if you could help me here, I'm sort of new to this site, didn't put this is the newbie section because i thought id get some better views and responses here, iv got an 09 iron 883 and im lookin for new exhaust system, i was lookin at the side-shots (V&H), but cant decide between them, short shots and them sweeper style ones, which would sound the best and increase performance the most...
Welcome to the forum. You'll find so many posts here on exhaust systems it'll take you a month to read them all.
The sound is subjective, what one guy likes best is not another's cup of tea. You can try listening to some videos, but those can be hard to judge. Best thing is to listen to bikes with different systems, at a dealer or bike night, etc.
For performance, if you mean best power, the 2 into 1 systems are usually the choice.
Do your research, have fun with it and good luck.
Thanks for the reply and the advice, i was looking at the dual pipes, not really into the 2 into 1 kinda stuff :/ . But i will go and have a look around, there isnt many bike places neer me, but there is a harley shop, so i will go check it out there, see what i can do...do you have any recomendations tho?
Before you pay your dealer for a set of Vance & Hines, do some surfing around, like on EBay for instance. You may be able to get them cheaper than your dealer can.
I've found that the best way to decide is to hang at bike gatherings, or at the hd dealer and check out other peoples bikes to get an idea of what looks and sounds best to you, that way you can hear them come and go idle etc. just my 2cents
Ok well it sais here that the lower end will suffer with a 2:1 pipe since there is no ability to scavenge gases, but overall the longer pipes and the 2:1 pipes are best performance wise...thing i may get some long pipes then...like them side shots i was origionally going to get, are they "long" pipes?
and i have looked all over ebay and i can only really find any on the international site...the delivery will be a bit much to get em over here
and i really like them sweepers, someone said you cant go pillion with em tho?
