Default motorcycle covers

Hi. I recently bought a harley but unfortunately I don't have a garage. I keep my bike outside covered with all the possible anti-theft things I could think of. My question though, Is keeping it outside okay on the bike or does it have a significant adverse effect on the bike's life. Sometimes I feel people exaggerate the taking care of it like it is a newborn baby afraid of its own shadow. I mean after all it is meant to be ridden and used and enjoyed. Please let me know if I'm completely wrong or if the bike is fine especially if i'm riding it almost every day. Thanks for your help.

There are many bikes that have never seen the inside of a garage and when you see them on the road you will never know the difference. I think you will be fine.

Same as you, I have no garage and I live on the CT shoreline. I bought a cover called "the bike barn" www.thebikebarn.net that keeps the bike out of the winter elements. Good Luck.... Dana

Some might disagree with this, but......If you spent the money for Harley & care about it, you should be willing to spend $600-800 to get at least a small shed like they sell at Lowe's or Home Depot so you can keep it out of the weather & make it a little harder for someone to steal.

Of course I would choose to do that if I could unfortunately I just don't have the space for it. I live in a nice neighborhood but they are tudor type rowhomes making that idea impossible. I've been reading differing opinions on this topic and basically I just want to know will it be fine with a cover, daily riding during the year. During the winter months of extreme cold and snow I have a family members garage to use but that is a couple of states away so obviously I won't be using it during the rest of the year. Thanks for the help.

I have a CycleShelter. It is not as durable as the BikeBarn but it has been a sufficient shelter for my bike since the Spring. I will eventually build a proper shed in my back yard once I get rid of the above ground pool and the adjacient deck. For the winter months I will either put a durable canopy over the CycleShelter ( it's too flimsy to support snow ) or just put my bike in storage until April. A garage would of course be best, but you really can by without one.

I'd be thinking about a way to cover it up anyway. I'd hate to see a post about your bike getting stolen. The Honda cover is a pretty good idea .

I have it covered already Iwas more concerned with the weather during spring, summer, and fall. Winter it will be garaged but I figure if i'm riding it almost everyday and its only covered at night, the condensation etc. shouldn't be a problem .I have a good cover with a vent. Let me know if i'm wrong. Thanks.

Would it be out of the question to fabricate a ramp and keep it in the house?
