Default Shifting...

I just transferred my suicide shift to regular clutch. I gave it the ole college try but I didn't like it. It was ok once I got out of first gear, but riding at slow speeds or moving around at bike shows and such was really hard. I'm just wondering if anyone else is suicide shift/jockey shift and why they keep it that away?

I'm not sure I understand. Are you transferring from a suicide or to one?

I'm reading that he removed his suicide clutch and installed a standard one...

There's always a trade off when you go those routes, some can do it, some can't, that's no offense towards you, at least you tried, I don't think I could ride that way myself, but I would'nt mind trying it to see.

TQ, try www.blackswampchoppers.com he has a foot/hand clutch he runs on his bikes. You may have to email him it looks like this clutch set-up isn't in his parts for sale.

I rode a factory rocker clutch & hand shift '78 FLH for about 18 years. It even had a reverse gear in the tranny. I converted my '87 FLST to a rocker clutch, also. It is now a suicide clutch as the aftermarket rocker setup was poorly designed, and even more poorly made. Because I've ridden with a foot clutch for so long I guess I'm just more comfortable with it. And now I no longer have as much choice 'cause my left paw doesn't work as well as it oughtta. Besides, it gives one a bit of dash!

The rocker clutch is much easier than a suicide clutch. The pedal stays where you put it, and you use your heel & toe to control it. Suicide clutch pedal requires much more practice, and is also less forgiving of clutch misadjustments.
