Default flashback

I just got back into riding after a 25 year break. Back in the day I hit a friggin chunk of concrete in the road and went down (well, I went air born for a while, then down). Nothing too serious. Lost a lot of skin but didn't break anything. I was riding today and ran over another chunk of concrete. I didn't go down, but I had a serious flashback. I'm not sure what the moral of the story is - maybe "don't run over stuff, go around it". The rest of the ride was fun, though.

"watch where the f**k you're going next time"

Sounds like a plan.

I have a slight propensity to hit pot holes on my bike. I don't know what it is with pot holes, but I don't run over or through anything else!

It does take a while to get used to riding again after a while off. I took my time and have been changed lanes into already within my first Nine months back on! I didn't hit the ground this time. But who only knows if and when that will be. I sure don't.
I do ride as much as I can however so I can and hopefully will be ready when it does hit the fan.
Don't get discouraged. Just ride easy, and as much as you can.

Aka Bob

You may not be looking far enough down the road. Look farther ahead so you have time to react to potential hazards.

I was thinking your observation skills haven't improved in 25 years---hopefully your medical insurance has and your personal safety equipment. MSF course might do you some good.

Target fixation.

You go where you look. Potholes are easy to focus on and then we run over them. As others have said, look down the road. Look where you want to go.

Glad you didn't go down.
