If it makes you feel any better, I put a little connecting string on my fingerless gloves, just like those mittens you had as a kid. We won't be losing one of them anymore.
i see it all the time and so what! If there lives and if they want to ride in there boxers then let them. I don't gear up like I use to and I know that I should, but it's not fun when it's 85-90 out and your dressed like your gonig to war.
It's going to be 100 out this Carlisle Bike Fest I was going wear my short under my Harley-Davidson Road Warrior Riding Pant. 98331-09VM. I think I open the vents up for the ride and take them off at the Bike Fest. Maybe I could bring flip flops and take my riding boot off at the show. I will have my draggin kevlar shirt under a mesh jacket for a cooler ride. Have T-Shirt for the show or maybe buy a shirt there. Stay cool riding I am.
There are so many things that others think other people should be doing differently. Wearing a helmet, using your seat belt when in a car. Not texting or talking on a cell phone while driving. Not smoking at all. Not smoking in your car while your children are in the car. No leaving your kid(s) in a car while the engine is running while out of the vehicle. Not leaving your pet in your car in the summer-time with the windows up.
People in general are getting feed up being dictated to about the thing other people think they should be doing. Regardless as to whether it makes sense or not. A lot of folks don't use the same common sense others do. Some even rebel because you question their choices.
The more sophisticated and intelligent we become, the more difficult it will be to live without laws, regulations and someone else thinking everyone else should be doing everything the way they think we should.
We're slowly loosing what little self-identity we have left. Regardless if it's politically or socially correct or acceptable.
Why do you think some many people don't know their neighbors after living next to them for a long time? They don't want others getting into their business.
Some times it sounds as though people had rather you keep your opinions to yourself. Why am I not surprised?
Are things going to change? Probably, but for the worst.
i'm probably going to get some static for this, but here goes.... i'm probably not the most safety consious rider in the world but i know helments have save my noggin more than once. if it is 85 degrees out though i'm not going to wear a leather jacket etc. what i am seeing in hot weather and this is not some kid on a chinese likkersicle, but grown men who should know better on harleys or big metric cruisers wearing shorts and either flip flops, sandles or god forbid bare footed. first off the thought of a pissed off wasp going up a short leg headed for the family jewels is gauranteed to cause trouble and if you loose it with shorts there is going to a bunch of road rash. as for the foot thing, how many times have you been traveling at low speed and hit sand or something loose and had to slap a foot down to maintain balance? uncomfortable with boots, disaster with flipflps or bare footed. i've seen some of the road rash photos on other posts and had to put in my 2 cents worth. 40 plus years on two wheels makes you a bit wary of really dumb stuff.
So let me get this right,
It is OK for you to wear what you want, how you want, and when you want. You decide for yourself, even admitting your "not the most safety consious rider in the world".
But, you are going to tell others how they should dress, what they should wear and why.
Can't you just go protest some place that allows smoking or stop adults from eating foods they decide and leave motorcycles alone.
You guys wanna ride in shorts and sandals...it's your skin. I've lost enough of it over the years to know I'd like to keep the skin I have now. Growing more sux. I do wear t-shirts, though...guess I'm not really following my own rules, huh?
