I agree. Much easier (and safer) just looking at the tach across the bars while riding.
I installed one on my Duece. There's plenty of room for both the tach housing and my Windvest. I don't know about other types/brands of windshields.
If you do the installation, I found it easy to run the wiring harness underneath the tank by first removing the nut securing the rear of the tank and then just loosening the front acorn nut. This allowed me to lift the rear of the tank while the front pivoted, thereby making enough room to stuff in the harness.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I would be able to get the combo for 20% off, but that still makes it $400. A bit pricey, but it looks good. As far as looking down at it instead of straight ahead, I won't be watching it constantly, just to check what the rpm does in relation to the speed occasionally. If I raced and needed it to shift by, I'd definately mount it in front of me.
I'm glad to hear that you don't lose the dual trip odometers. They have an '07 specific one listed as well, maybe that will also retain the clock and 6th gear indicator as well.
