you were lied to. the map is not stored in volatile memory. disconnecting your battery will not change the map, either in the sest, or the power commander, or any other fuel management device (that i know of anyways.....)

The SERT isn't anything that you add to the bike, it gives you ability to "talk" to the ecm to make changes to the air/fuel mixture (and other things).
