Anyone else had a similar experience with over inflation?
You'll be complaining about poor tire mileage before long.

+ 1--I forgot that one. Tire's will wear out quicker than usual with lower psi.

Really, it depends on the tire, since compounds differ based on the manufacturer of the tire and what the tire is designed for.

Thanks for the responses. I put them back to 36F and 36R per owners manual. Rode 60 miles today and no grip problems. Yes ZUKEEPER I could feel 4 lbs difference. You have to figure that is 10% of the total pressure. Maybe I am hyper -sensitive to the handling, but I know how it felt....almost like riding on dirt.

If you read the side of the tire what it says about maximum inflation is for loads beyond what you could pile on the bike.

Front 30 psi / rear 30 psi if you weigh less than 200 lbs and 32 psi if you are going to carry 300lbs.
I run the Dunlop 200/55R17 on my 06 Standard and the sidewall listing for MAX PSI is 42PSI.
There is no way I should run less then 36-38PSI, single ,,,BTW 2-up I run 40PSI

So read your sidewallls.....and remember that is M A X PSI pressure

Thanks for this post, I will be taking my wife on her first motorcycle experience this weekend. Good to know what to look out for when I add some air before heading out. I follow the manual, 36 front and rear, 40 rear when 2up.
