I run the Dunlop 200/55R17 on my 06 Standard and the sidewall listing for MAX PSI is 42PSI.
There is no way I should run less then 36-38PSI, single ,,,BTW 2-up I run 40PSI
So read your sidewallls.....and remember that is M A X PSI pressure
I suppose if you weigh 400+ lbs running 36 psi might be okay, as long as you don't care about tire life.
It's funny people think they need so much psi in a tire yet can't figure out why they only get 5,6, or 7k out of it, lol.
I run my rear at about 40 at all times and I like it, but i'm use to it. Now when my my front was down to about 32 the one day that sucked! Bar slap like crazy.
Hard tires spin good and soft tires grip the road. To much air turn your tire hard with less grip. 40 pounds of air or more will spin my tires. And with 9 pounds of air will do Wheelie most all day. Don't run the roads with that low air pressure as your tires may run off.
Thats not what the mfg. tag says on the frame for tire inflation.
I run 40 in the rear & 38 in the front weather I am 1 or 2up.
Stock Dunlops on a RKC
Same here. After my last service I checked my front tire pressure, someone had bumped the pressure up to 44 lbs! I took it down to 38 and the handling was way better. 40 lbs in the rear seems to work pretty good too.
