he says he's got some willie g-ruined sportster but doesn't ride the 25 miles from his house to the gym for fear of a mid-day shower. (it's been REALLY dry this summer around here)
all he has to offer each and every time i ride is how my bars are too tall, my bike too black, how his v&h are better than my samsons...AD NAUSEUM
one day i dryly replied "you have a carb and vance and hines exhaust on that acura?"
i can tolerate a passerby with too many unsolicited opinions, you can just walk away from them.
imagine hearing it from the same person anywhere between 3 and 5 days a week.
I ran into one of THOSE guys at the gas station this morning, you know, very enthusiastic..... I was on my stock '08 Dresser and he pulls up on a Dyna Superglide all jazzed up with super loud pipes, cone air filter, all that stuff. He's yanking away on the throttle and screwing around with the idle screw trying to get it to idle before it farts out the air cleaner and quits. Then he goes on to tell me all the mods and cams, jets, larger carb and all that he's got on there and how he almost had it dialed in, all the horsepower and torque he was getting etc. I was suitably impressed until he started ragging on my bike with the stock a/c, ignition map and a new EPA SE pipe, how I need to download this and that, change to a big sucker blah blah blah.......I started my bike and got my helmet and gloves on while it settled into it's lumpy fast TC idle, said "see ya", dropped it in first and smoothly pulled away, no muss no fuss......
I don't know I just thought it was funny, him being so down on my stocker yet he couldn't even keep his "high performance" bike running...
LoL. Good for you. And I'll bet he was still yappin' after you pulled away.
to not upgrade your AC, pipes and either rejet your carb or do whatever it is you EFI guys do is leaving a lot of HP and performance just sitting there untapped for no good reason. all of them are very simple upgrades anyone can do in an afternoon. the bikes run lean as hell from the floor i don't know how you guys can stand it frankly. the bike will run ten times better with a high flow AC, decent pipes, and tuned properly.
i told a guy i work with once and only once because he genuinely had no idea the bikes come lean from the floor (or what lean was for that matter). i helped him out and replaced his intake gaskets, exhaust gaskets, high flow AC and rejetted his carb. he couldn't believe the difference in the way his bike rode.
