I'd think a battery maintainer would be a better investment. But I've never had any kind of problems with my batteries. They usually last four to five years before they start to get sluggish. When they do they get replaced.
I've got the L.E.D. voltage monitor from Kuryakyn on both bikes. The units I have give an indicated voltage in the charge system and this is more for giving me an immediate notice when my stator or regulator has **** the bucket. Then I know I need to head for the barn or a shop. I don't see how this Batt. Bug will extend battery life, to me it seems to be monitoring the voltage in the batt.

I have 2 & they are fine but my battery in the 09 died agter 18 months without warning. My 06 still has the original battery. Knowing if something is failing can save a tow but it's got to work.

+1 - After being stranded twice due to a failed charging system, this at least gives me enough advanced notice to get some where comfortable for the layup.
The only way to really test the condition of a battery, is to disconnect it from the vehicle and have it load tested.

Got the same voltage monitor and have it on my handlebars next to dash on my '91 FLHS. Coolest thing I can glance down and see the LEDs dancing as my voltage goes up and down with rpms and loads.
Am more concerned with the battery going bad than an alternator or vr issue. Would the kuryakyn do anything that would show when the battery is starting to not hold a charge? Tommy 1992 FLHS

monitors the entire electrical charging system of which the battery is part. It tells you at a glance whether your voltage is adequete or not. It will not diagnose the system. You have to stop for that. It does provide an early warning of up coming running or stalling problems which I think is valueable. Once you develope a problem you have to do the diagnostic tests on each component ( sator, regulator, battery, circuit breakers, etc.), check connections for shorts, check grounds, etc. Just like a car alternator guage does not tell you what is going bad it just tells you that it is going bad. Personally I really like being able to glance down and see the little "green" LED dancing letting me know all is well with my electricals.
I use a battery charger from sears. Its a craftsman for $30.00 I use one on each toy, 57buick,yamaha jet ski , 08 ultra. I have it hanging from the ceiling in the garage and plug the bike in whenever i get home from a ride. It tells you if you have an issue or not. It comes with a cord you can wire directly to the battery. My ec came with the cord installed from harley and is the same connection as the craftsman. Almost forgot ,look for the one that says harley on the box. It will come with both the plug in type or the standard battery clip
