Coming home from Ft. Lauderdalre to Decatur Il I stopped at a Super8 at Chattanooga off HWY24. Just lookin for a cheapie as I'd been on the bike for 13 hrs and had the mountains ahead and it was gettin dark. The room reflected the price 59 bucks which kinda ticked me cause I'd been see'in signs for super 8 sfor 49 dollars all day. Anyway I checked out and rode home. Checked my account when I got home and found an additional $50 charge. Called em and they say a blankets missing. Im 8hrs away and so damn mad I could launch. I explain I was on a bike and travelin light and didnt steal their blanket. Upshot is the manager says tough we're not waiving the charge. I called the corporate line and filed a complaint but this sucks. Who pays with a credit card and steals a damn wallmart quality blanket knowing their gonna pay $50 damn dollars for the thing? Whats your recourse? I told the lady you could do this to every other person and make a ton of money.
Not usually one to dog stuff. But on recent trip from Texas to Kentucky we stopped at a Super 8 outside of Memphis. First the guy behind the counter couldnt hardly speak english, and rude as hell. get to the room and its full of mosquitos. Unload the bikes, go back outside to grab a bit to eat and the door handle comes off in my hand....We had to buy a can of OFF just to spray down the room to sleep! I have seen some really nice Super 8's...but they sure dont govern the quality of their independent owners.......
Last time I stayed in one, the continental breakfast was doughnut and coffee. I said doughnut as the proprietor was standing guard to make sure nobody took more than one. Last time I'll ever stay at one. Oh, and I don't drink coffee. Also, it didn't look like my sheets had been changed as their was hair all over the sheets. I slept on my sleeping bag. Friggin Dupper Eight!
