Actually John is right on the money. An ultra classic comes in around 840 lbs. With rider it's 1/2 ton or closer to 3/4 ton at GVWR. That is indeed something to think about when stopping.
OK I'm off My bike is about 750 and I don't allow for the weight of the rider/passenger.
Congrats, glad you like the bike! I am jealous-ordered my road Glide in July and is supposed to be in Sept. 18th and pick up date the 20th. Had vacation from Sept. 9-19th. Only could re-arrange 2 days. Get to pick it up and have 1 good day to ride before back to the salt mines! Glad to hear everything is working on new bike
For those that don't know servo-assisted means ABS brakes, which by the way are hydraulic, and the assistance from the servo isn't for more stopping "Power" but quicker stopping without skidding the tires. It should be noted that if you drive around in any vehicle that has ABS and you note it's working , that it is either raining, snowing, or you are not stopping correctly. (could be wrong here, never had a BMW motor cycle, just going by what I've read)
Servo-assist is not ABS.
BMW's servo-assist is a separate function from the ABS. The servos act like the power braking system in an auto - including the need for increased effort to apply the brakes with the engine off.
I've owned three beemers - two of them equipped with the servos and I'll never purchase another bike with similarly equipped. The servo-assist is an answer to a question that nobody asked. On the other hand, BMW is equipping their new models (R1200S, R1200R, etc.) with a new ABS system without the servos. Reviews of that new system have been consistently positive so I would anticipate BMW finally doing away with the servos altogether at some point.

when i bought my 06 RKC, i *thought* about a peace officer RK- but i decided against it even before i inquired since i didnt want to advertise my position and be 'stuck' with an HD that needed someone looking for a peace officer edition if i ever sold it.
D.V.: My 2001 Electra Glide Classic was the 2-tone Night Watch/Cadet Blue and was very recognizable as a peace officer bike. However, I made a 2nd trip to Sturgis on it in 2002 and rec'd nothing but complements on it, even from 1% club members that I would run into on the road between here and there. Come to think of it, I remember having several folks tripping all over each other to buy it, due to the color combination when it came time to sell. This one is black, but has the "Peace Officer Special Edition" tank decal. Not really noticeable, but I've never had a problem in 26 years of doing what I do to pay for the bikes I ride!
I've only been able to amass about 450 miles since yesterday (chores around the house), but that has been enough with the holiday weekenders all headed home on local roads and temp's that make sitting on the bike almost unpleasant as I travel on city streets or backed-up freeways. I still need to accumulate the remainder of the break-in miles after work tomorrow and Wed. nite so that the mechanics at the dealership will actually be doing me (and the bike) some good.
Still, no problems and only happy things to say about the bike. My first 2 tanks of gas have shown an average of 40 MPG +/-, even with running it up and down the RPM scale and not just floating down the road in 6th.
