PGR escorted my good buddy's funeral this past weekend, that is a great organization. Nothing like seeing a group of brothers escorting a fallen military man that they didnt even know. Watching them "guard" the funeral home and lead the precession was such a special sight. They were such an impact that just in mere presence traffic stopped in Dallas TX, now, that is hard to do...
Both are quality. Of course, they're just like any other organization...they're made up of people, and people have good & bad days!
Before you join any organization, find some members and take the time to hang out with them. Make sure you're really about what they're about and you like how they do things. Don't join first and then hope you're a good fit!
I have been a PGR rider since 2007. I can not tell you how much I get out of the cameraderie and brotherhood this group offers me. Some days it is spitting rain, maybe ice, but we go rain or shine. Can't recommend it enough. You will be a better man or woman for your contribution to our veterans and their families in time of need.
I've never done a PGR mission that wasn't rewarding... both for me and the family of the deceased. It's not a riding club, however: we do put in some long days getting to remote places for some missions, but there's a lot of military-style hurry-up-and-wait. This is fine with me. The mission is the most important thing once I put on the armband.
I'm probably not welcome in the CMA seeing as I don't make-believe in sky fairies, but those members I've met unfortunately seem to be mostly concerned with the politics of the organization. One Gold Winger I know even relishes telling stories about run-ins and near-territory-disputes with other patch clubs! I think I'd rather join HOG. At least most of those chapters, in addition to the socializers and politicans, occasionally have riders, I'm told.

Patriot Guard Rider here. Though we have done too many KIA escorts and services, there is nothing better you can do with your motorcycle in my opinion. We also attend millitary honors and funerals for veterans without familes.
