Default Changing levers out - advice?

Hey just got a 2000 sportster and I'm already looking to change some stuff out. First up is the stock brake and clutch levers. Got some Paul Yaffe pistol style levers in black. Any advice or know how so I don't screw it up? (or is it just a straight swap out?) Any help much appreciated. Thanks

If they're supposed to fit your bike, should be pretty much straight up deal.

If they have instructions - follow them. Don't remember w/your year sporty, but you might have to use protective piece of cardboard to protect brake switch when removing/installing. Also, make sure you have a snap-ring pliers - they're pretty hard to remove w/o & don't want to damage any of the surrounding paint. Also, maybe post in Sportster section to get more inputs - good luck!

Sounds like a pretty straight up swap. There was no instructions. And couldn't find anything on Youtube. I'll look for some snap ring pliers. Thanks for all the posts.

The brake lite switch is more than a $60 dollar oops...some soldering involved to put in the new one and it's not easy...if you need more detailed instructions, PM me please.

While you are doing the job, replace your pivot pin bushings.

I'll watch out for the pivot pin bushing and the brake lite switch. Thanks again to all replys.

Yes but a manual, it's cheap insurance and you will be amazed at what you will learn about your bike. Make certain you get a Harley manual. You will find that you use it all the time if for no other reason than torq specs.
