How would you feel?
I attended a local Battle of the Bands show at a local HD dealer in town yesterday. I am NOT involved in or with any of the bands at all, but if I was, I would be just a little curious. Let's see, the singer of the winning band worked at the radio station that put on the event, the guitar player in the second place band was a student of one of the judges AND to top it all off, one of the judges won the harley they gave away!
Am I wrong to feel like it was a total scam? The winning band should never have been allowed to compete because it is a conflict of interests and the same with the second place band as well. The judge winning the bike could have totally legit but it sure dosen't look or feel that way!
Oh and BTW, the winning band SUCKED! (I know it's my opinion) but, the crowd left the stage when they started playing and never went back!
Rant over. Chime in if you were there!
Oh yeah, there were some pretty cool bikes there as well!
I am a musician & I would NEVER play a battle of the bands because;1--they don't pay, & I only play for $$. 2. They are almost always rigged. Any GOOD band avoids battle of the bands like the plague. They are usually for amateurs. They are a way for a venue to get a day's worth of entertainment for the price of some crappy prize. My guess is the Harley giveaway was jst a sham that the "winner" was in on.
The winner won $1500 bucks! Not too shabby for 30 mins of stage time.
There is a pretty hot local music scene around here so you can hear some good music at the battles sometimes. I am a big fan of live music and have been involved with it for a long time. I have never been to an event that was such an obvious scam.
I dont know man my friends bad won a battle of the bands and as a prize they got to open for out favorite band that was coming from germany it was a ****ing awesome drunken night

The singer of the winning band should never have been able to enter at all being an employee of the radio station sponsoring the promotion. HUGE conflict of interest. Call the radio station and bitch to the General Manager. If this radio station is owned by one of the big companies they're up sh*t creek.
